BEGINNER COURSE

 

Ready to take your packrafting skills to the next level? Our Beginner Whitewater Packrafting Course is designed for those new to both whitewater and packrafting. Over the course of this 3-day adventure, we’ll guide you through the essentials of safely navigating moving water, starting with the fundamentals and progressing to basic whitewater techniques.

 

You’ll learn everything from reading the river to mastering your paddling strokes, and how to react when faced with rapids or unexpected water conditions. Our experienced instructors will make sure you feel confident and safe, providing hands-on support while exploring exciting and manageable whitewater environments.

 

By the end of this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to take on beginner-level whitewater packrafting and be ready for more challenging rivers in the future!

 

What You’ll Learn:

 

Day 1: Getting Comfortable with Whitewater

 

     Introduction to whitewater packrafting: understanding gear, safety, and technique

 

     How to read a river: recognizing different types of whitewater and hazards

 

     Basic paddling strokes for maneuvering in moving water

 

     Water safety: what to do if you flip or capsize, and how to rescue yourself

 

     Practice paddling on calm to gentle-moving water to get comfortable in your raft

 

Day 2: Navigating Rapids & Basic Rescue Skills

 

     How to approach and navigate small rapids safely

 

     Mastering essential whitewater maneuvers: ferries, eddy turns, and maneuvering around rocks

 

     Group safety and communication: paddling with others in a whitewater setting

 

     Basic self-rescue skills: getting back into your raft and handling minor mishaps

 

     Introduction to paddling in more dynamic conditions (easy whitewater)

 

Day 3: Putting It All Together

 

     Practice navigating through more challenging rapids and water features

 

     Applying what you’ve learned: continuous paddling in moving water, combining techniques

 

     Safety procedures for navigating more difficult water and how to avoid common mistakes

 

     Real-world river scenarios to help you react to unpredictable water conditions

 

     End the course with a fun, guided whitewater trip to test your new skills!

- Swimming suit and towel
- Shoes that may get wet (no crocs)
- Thermal underwear / Ski underwear (synthetic or merino)

Conditions

- Good swimming abilities and health
- From 14 years old
An pervious experiance on packraft, kajak, canoe or rafting is a plus. If you don´t consider youself especially sportif we recommande you to start with the Saalach Beginner

Cancellations

Packrafting is an outdoor sport and we won't be scared if water fall from above! The tour will take place by any weather. By extrem storm we may have to postpone and delay the course.
High water may as well lead to some adjustment, delay or cancellation. The participant we be noticed in due time.
